We meet on the second Thursday of each month at 2.15 pm in Church.
We have a varied programme during the year. New members, including single women, are always welcome. Men, too, may now join our ranks, though the old name, much loved, is retained. We are still the Mothers' Union! The Mothers' Union is a classic example of an old saying: "Great oaks from little acorns grow". What began as a small project in a Hampshire village in 1876 is now a great world wide concern, deeply involved in supporting and improving people's lives, socially and spiritually.
The purpose of the Mothers' Union is to be specially concerned with all that strengthens and preserves marriage and Christian family life.
The Objects are
- To uphold Christ's teaching on the nature of marriage and to promote its wider understanding;
- To encourage parents to bring up their children in the faith and life of the Church;
- To maintain a worldwide fellowship of Christians, united in prayer, worship and service;
- To promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life and the protection of children;
- To help those whose family life has met with adversity.
