Confirmation at Beeston Parish Church
Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which you affirm for yourself the faith into which you have been baptized and your intention to live a life of committed discipleship. This affirmation is confirmed through prayer and the laying on of hands by the confirming bishop. The Church also asks God to give you power through the Holy Spirit to enable you to live in the way of Jesus.
Confirmation is a significant and important step in your journey of faith, and so there will usually be a period of preparation before you come to be confirmed to ensure that you have a full understanding of the commitment you are making and of the meaning of being a Christian.
If you were not baptized as a child, then you are still very welcome to consider confirmation. You will usually be invited to come for baptism shortly before the occasion of your confirmation, or they may take place during the same service – we will discuss a suitable time with you.
If you would like to take this step or would like to discuss the possibility of doing so, please contact one of the clergy, who will be happy to meet with you.
