Holy Baptism at Beeston Parish Church
We are pleased that you are thinking of having your child baptised (christened) at Beeston Parish Church. Baptism is an important step which marks the start of the Christian journey and a lifelong relationship with God. It is a joyful moment to rejoice in what God has done for us in Christ. Baptism is also about belonging to the Church, God’s family. It is about belonging to a worshipping community of faith, which learns together and supports one another to live as Christ’s disciples in our daily lives.
Important promises and declarations are made by you and the godparents (who must themselves be baptised) on behalf of your child/children, to bring them up in the Christian way.
We would like you to be comfortable making your promises and to experience something of life in God’s family, so before we’ll agree a date for your child’s baptism we’d like to invite you to come along to our 10am service on a Sunday morning. Toilets and baby changing facilities are available as well as a carpeted area at the back of Church with toys etc. There is also a Sunday School where you can stay with your child/children if they are under 5 years.
If you live outside the Parish boundary it will be a requirement that you obtain permission in writing from your Parish Priest before proceeding with a Baptism at this Church.
Baptisms are held at 12.15pm on the 3rd Sunday of the month (but can also take place in the main 10am Sunday service). We may baptise 1 or 2 candidates per date, depending upon demand.
If you decide that you want to go ahead with a baptism or have any further questions, please contact Diane or Pam using the details below. Following on from the initial contact, a visit will be arranged where you will have an opportunity to go through the Baptism service and ask any questions you may have.
